Are you ready to get LOUD this September?
Loud Shirt Day is being held on September 27, 2019 and we need your support.
The annual fundraiser raises money for the paediatric programmes at The Hearing House and the Southern Cochlear Implant Programme – charities dedicated to helping children who are deaf and have cochlear implants and hearing aids, learn to listen and speak.
Loud Shirt Day is all about you having fun at your school or workplace and dressing loud to change the lives of New Zealand’s deaf and hearing impaired children.
Loud Shirt Day sees schools, businesses, community groups and individuals raise money by dressing up in a loud shirt and collecting donations from participants.
Schools can hold a mufti-day, businesses might hold a themed morning tea, individuals can host a breakfast for their friends asking everyone to bring a donation with them and retirement villages could stage a fashion parade.
You can hold your event on September 27, or a date that suits you.
Among those who will benefit from the outrageous fashion crimes being committed this year are Otis Smith, 5, Rhythm Goyal, 3, Aria Taiatini, and Cindy Ren, both 4, pictured.
The youngsters are among the hundreds of New Zealand children who come to The Hearing House and the Southern Cochlear Implant Programme for audiology and therapy services. All services are free to families.
The Hearing House and the Southern Cochlear Implant Programme work hard to ensure that each child reaches their full potential, without being limited by their hearing loss.
Many profoundly deaf children start mainstream school at the same spoken language and hearing level as their peers.
The Hearing House is based in Auckland and provides services to families living north of Turangi, The Southern Cochlear Implant Programme is based in Christchurch and provides services to families in the rest of the country. Loud Shirt Day donations go to the region in which they were raised.
People who register will receive a fundraising pack containing posters and a donation box. From there they can start planning their very own LOUD event.
