Loud Shirt Day 2024

Today we had a very special ‘Drama Queens’ Family Fun day for the school holidays.
Drama Queens a fun class for kids that includes play, dress up, acting out characters, enjoying musical mayhem, games, props and make believe. Activities focus on increasing sensory awareness, spatial relations, gross motor development and language skills, giving children exciting opportunities for exploration, imagination stimulating their curiosity, motivating them to learn.
We would like to do a big shout out to those families who came already dressed up this morning! We had heaps of fun putting on costumes, making music, hula hooping, throwing balls about, trying not to drop our eggs and, of course, popping bubbles.
Thanks heaps to Katherine of Drama Queens for leading today’s fun with so much energy!

If you have been asked by a staff member at a number of Warehouse stores across Auckland to add a donation to your purchase, this is where it has gone.
Today The Warehouse Region 8 presented Hearing House kids Peyton and Henry with a giant cheque from donations of the last Add $1 campaign for a new sound booth! Peyton and Henry were pretty excited, they even had their own certificates to give to the staff for their hard work.
The Warehouse region 8 stores has done a number of Add $1 campaigns for The Hearing House over the last two years. So far the ten region 8 stores have raised enough money for a new preschool playground, and two specialised rooms in our new building (a family room and an audiology sound booth).
Thank you once again The Warehouse Region 8 teams for helping deaf kids to listen and speak!

The Hearing House holds regular play groups where client families are invited along to a specialised play session with our therapists. In these fortnightly sessions, therapists do activities with the children and their parents and practice a range of spoken language skills.
In last weeks session, they did activities which involved painting, eating and camping vocabulary. There was even a real tent set up in the office and all of the families sat inside and practiced different words that you might use while camping such as ‘tourch,’ ‘on/off,’ and ‘tent.’
